Response to Hitler's Death

Well he is dead. Now I do not want to say that I am happy for his death but, let's just say his one death is better than all the deaths of these Innocent people. I am not saying I am glad he died. I want you all to know that I have been doing many, many volunteer wartime and I encourage you to do it too. The only hope that democracy has is The United States of America, and we need to keep this good democracy going. "You have to except whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and the best that you have to give." Let's just be glad that this great disaster is over. We will have to do some repairs, but we are always repairing. Right? Never ever stop improving. let's be thankful have this amazing country to live in. God bless you all!!! Until next time...
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Arrivederci

Good bye fellow friends and enemies. This has been a fun time of events. I have enjoyed this and hopefully it will continue on, but for now this is my farewell.

~Benito Mussolini~

response to Charlotte Nikont

First let me start off by clearing up the fact that we haven't "taken over the would" nor have we taken over the world. We attempted, yes but now at this point may not succeed. By the way Hitler never said he wanted "equality" he just wanted an all Aryan Race in his country. "We are all made in God's image" Maybe to you that is something you believe in, but to Hitler and Some people it may be the opposite of when they believe. Hitler does feel pain, he has lost family members and friends. Mrs. Nikont everyone has felt some pain once or more times in their lifetime. Wishing someone to be dead and God aren't things mentioned in the same paragraph very often. I don't know your religious views but i don't think an active worshiper of God should be wanting death upon someone who you despise. Hitler may not be the best person on Earth but he still is a person.

Just life

Going back to America. One little picture has made me famous at home. I will be sent on tours around the U.S. because I raised a flag on a hill. I was one of the lucky ones you know.less than 60 people got away uninjured or dead. I do not want to go back,  I have no idea what lies in store at home. I left the reservation so I could eat regularly and send money home. ever since our water was cut off my people have been starving, even the children and women. I am glad to hear this war has stopped, glad that the horrible things that were happening are no longer happening.   They call me a hero and a true soldier when in fact all I am is one of the lucky ones. I am relived to have news of Hitlers death, though unconfirmed, it is still good news. A horrible man he was. He killed many people who were innocent and even women and children.

Response to Albert Einstein

Really? You are criticizing Josef Stalin, the communist leader who is one of your "big" allies. That makes sense, doesn't it? Yeah, totally, you should criticize your ally that you just gained, and without whom you would find it tough to even mount an invasion upon our soil. You're so smart, you should be a scientist. Oh wait, you are one! Do you really think that an atomic bomb will help you when you can't even control it? Germany's brightest minds are in the final stages of developing a super weapon that will demolish your pitiful country. Even your army will succumb to it. Even your army's best and brightest are an embarrassment compared to my Afrika Korps. Your army intelligence officers overlooked possibly one of the worst military defeats in history. Ha! America and intelligence is one of the biggest oxymorons I have ever heard.
You'd best stay out of this war,

I remember the Battle of Britain like it was yesterday.  We were too strong for the Germans.  I  wish Hitler would just give up.  In the recording it sounded like someone bombed Hitler.  Is there an assassin after Hitler?  I hope the assassin did his job right.  I believe it is wrong to kill, but Hitler is different.  Hitler is pure evil.  Just think about everything Hitler has done.  Hitler killed many of Jews.  What did the Jews ever do to Hitler?  He took over many countries that didn't want to get involved in the war.  Hitler is selfish.  He just wants to rule the world.  I don't want to see Hitler ever again.  Was that a bomb that blew up in the recording?  Did Hitler get hurt or is he safe?  We need to stop Hitler. I think Hitler should realize what he did to everyone.  Hitler is the master criminal.

This is what Hitler deserves DEATH

After what Hitler put these poor, innocent Jews through he deserves to be dead, how can you just kill so many people without a second thought.  Where is your conscience?  What you do during your lifetime reflects on where you spend your eternity I think I can guess that Hitler is not going to heaven.  He does not deserve any kindness or anything from anyone he is ruthless and unfair leader and murderer to millions.  Those lives could have been major people in our societies if they had just had a chance to live which they never got, and never will now.  They say what comes around goes around considering Hitler’s cruel deeds cannot imagine what else is coming to him.  How can he think he can try to hide a mass murder, I think everyone knows about it, it’s not like everyone will just like forget this tragedy that took millions of lives for such a stupid reason.

Response to Anne Frank

You are rife with inaccuracies. The correct syntax is felt. Also, you are a Jew. You do not believe in this so-called Jesus. YOU are being ridiculous now. In case you didn't know, your people dismissed his "messiah" and labeled him a "prophet." Maybe you should learn your own religion. Another thing, you say you want to see us all there, so are you saying you want us to die? Hmmm....

I do, however, share sympathies for your race. Hitler should not be exterminating people like this. He should make them do something useful, like making weapons or mining for oil. Without a continuous stream coming in from Russia, we can never have too much for our tank divisions. In fact we need more now, because the Americans are in Africa, and they, while underarmed and undermanned, are putting up a good fight for my Afrika Korps.
As always, it was a pleasure,

responce to news blast

I knew that someone was trying to kill Hitler.  I hope the assassin succeeded in what he was doing.  If Hitler is dead that means the end of the war is near.  I am glad that we don't have to fight Hitler ever again.  Without Hitler telling his army what to do, we can now win this war.  Hitler's army will be angry at us because we killed their leader, but they will be weaker.  It doesn't really matter if Hitler's army goes after Britain again, because we have already crushed them.  It seems like Britain is the strongest country so far, because Hitler couldn't beat us.  I bet America would be as strong as us if they would just fight in the war.  America should stand up and be the Big Dog.  Let's end the war here, while Hitler and his army are weak.  By the way that is a really good recording from the scene.

Editorial #9 response

I fear what this world is coming to. Could Hitler possibly take over the whole world? Maybe. I say that if America has beaten German once in world war one, then they can do it again. World War two, to me, is just a sequel to World War one. Germany used to be one little nation, now its a good 1/4 of the world! I knew this was going to happen. And there is also Pearl Harbor. That was just awful! What was it three thousand lifes taken? I think so. And as I mention again, Hitler is not the only one. There is Hideki Tojo, Benito Mussillini, and Josef Stalin. All people that rule by power and fear. If I was a dictator or a leader or even someone people look up to I would want to rule by care, love, and respect. I understand that if you rule by power or fear you'll get what you want easier but sometimes you just got to know when to stop. Enough is enough. We want this war to stop! Stop the madness! Please consider what I said and maybe we could end all of this in a peaceful way.

Recently I have been writing back and forth to Franklin Deleno Roosevelt. He says that he knows what is missing in my bomb. Uranium? Ya Uranium! Something that  is so unstable that one drop and it can do mass destruction and destroy our facility, again! He even told me what our first target will be. Heres a little hint, its not a location you'll expect! Time to start the official build of what will be the most dangerous weapon in World War two.

Is he dead yet?

Hitler... you terrible and heartless creature you. Life would be so much easier if you'd just die already. My life has been nothing but pure hell since you "took over the would." The three most important things in my life have gone away (my three sons), and you have made my husband a bitter and cold being. Put yourself in my position. In anyone's positions. How would you feel if you no longer have family or friends. You said you feel so much pain. Ha. Pain? Are you kidding me. You feel pain. Aw. You poor thing. NO!!!! You don't know pain till you have lost everything you have lived for and loved. You know pain when your children have been drafted to fight for your country, and then maybe you'd know just a little bit of so called "Pain." You have taken so many lives...for what? For "Equality" Well that sucks because we are all made in God's image.

Response to Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I agree with you on the fact the end game is coming. Unfortunately, I cannot agree that America will be the supreme power that decides the outcome of this war. Soviet Russia is and older, stronger, and more intelligent nation that was only unprepared and pushed back in 1941 due to the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression pact. Recently, under my supervision, Soviet Russia has grown to be very strong in industry and agriculture. Also, i am not sure of what you mean by saying, "Because America is a government not ruled by an alien power, but by ourselves.  The ultimate rulers of America are not senators or presidents, but the voters themselves." I am not an alien to my people. My people love me, and I have made my nation grow stronger with and through communism.” Soviet Russia was, is, and will always be the stronger country no matter what you would like to say.

My soul has passed on. When Margo died, I feel as if my whole world had come crashing down on me. I had only one more thing to loose and that was my life. I watched mine and others worlds come to a screeching halt. I saw a golden glow was being lifted up. As I looked down at myself I only saw a gold shimmer, I had no body. I looked up expecting to see a beach with palm trees, like I had always imagined Heaven to be like. But instead I saw 12 gates made from gold; each had one guard standing in front of them. I heard a voice say," Come through the gates Annelies Frank. “I drifted forward. The main gate opened and I drifted in. God said “Welcome to Heaven, you will be united with your body when the time comes Annelies. You have a lot to learn. This is my one and only son, Jesus. He suffered and died for your sins.” I looked around. I saw many angels of all different shapes, sizes, and colors passing by and doing jobs of sorts. I saw Margo! I’m not sure how I knew, but I felt it. She saw me as well. We drifted towards each other. As we chattered away, she told me how great it was, and that Mother was here too.

I watch you from above. I help polish the gates; they are my favorite part of Heaven, besides God. I hope to see some of you, if not all up here.

Farewell for now,
-Anne Frank

Hitler

I knew you were still alive all along. You are too smart for others to fool you. But may I ask, how did you survive? A secret location disclosed to special operatives?  This information does not concern me more than the fact you are saying your goodbyes. How could this have happened. We were set to succeed. Our plan was foolproof. But we must have made some sort of error. Maybe it was that you decided to backstab The Soviets. Not your best decision, yet a brave decision to make.  How could people turn on you. You may not have been the nicest to everyone, but I know you did make a strong,  intelligent, remarkable leader. I am in aw of what we have accomplished. The three of us: Hideki Tojo leader of Japan, Me, Benito Mussolini Leader of Italy and you, Adolf Hitler leader of Germany. This war will definitly go down in history books, but probably not in the way WE want it to be.

In the fall of 1948, [I was passing by the bronze statue of Hachiko at the Shibuya Station when I was handed a pamphlet about the life of Jacob DeShazer, a member of the Doolittle Raid who was captured by the Japanese after his B-25 bomber ran out of fuel over occupied China. In the pamphlet, "I Was a Prisoner of Japan" DeShazer, himself a former U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant and bombardier, told his story of imprisonment, torture and his account of an "awakening to God." This experience increased My curiosity of the Christian faith. In September 1949, after reading the Bible for myself, I became a Christian. In May 1950, me and DeShazer met for the first time.
I am sorry Hitler that only your country and your allies, it must have been tough. you have made such a big change and I do have to say you have always been my favorite leader,(besides me). We had done good in the war, all of us. I wish someday that we can just take over the world and everybody would be happy. With us running the world we would be unstoppable, never be taken over, and as always farewell to you and my allies.

                                                         your lovely Japanese leader,

Response to Hitler

After the war, I was called on to testify at the trials of some of the Japanese military for Japanese war crimes. This infuriated me as I believed this was little more than "victor's justice". In the spring of 1947, convinced that the Americans had treated the Japanese the same way and determined to bring that evidence to the next trial, I went to  Uraga Harbor near Yokosuka to meet a group of returning Japanese prisoners of war. I was surprised to find my former flight engineer, Kazuo Kanegasaki, who all had believed had died in the Battle of Midway. When questioned, Kanegasaki told me that they were not tortured or abused, much to my disappointment, then went on to tell me of a young lady, Peggy Covell, who served them with the deepest love and respect, but whose parents, missionaries, had been killed by Japanese soldiers on the island of Panay in the Philippines.

My last post

For all of you who wish me dead, I ask why. My country is thriving at one of it best because of me, and you wish me dead. I have made high Germany's self-esteem. Why do you focus on the sacrifices and not the benefit? Why do you see only the bad in a better outcome of good? I know why you don't see this. My theory is because you are not feeling our triumph first handed. I am ridding my country of parasites. The Jews are like weeds in a garden of beautiful blooming flowers. Weeds take up all the sunlight and water, leaving the better plants almost nothing left. No one wants them there anyways. This is our feeling toward the wretched, no good Jews. They take our wealth, food, and treasures. In return they leave us with criminals who lower our economic state. I am getting rid of these weeds so that my German people can bloom and flourish.
So long for now
A. Hitler

To Hitler last Entry

Oh it’s so nice to hear that you are alive. What don't understand is why people are mean enough to hurt a country's great leader. It makes my heart heavy. Though I am young and though I am hurt I will trudge on for you Hitler and only you. You are my gold medal. The thing I am striving for the most, to make my life complete. I need you and only you. I love you. With all my heart, but sadly I must bid you Hitler a farewell I mustn’t be here with you anymore. To this day remember me as Eva Braun the girl who survived a horror some war, good bye and farewell. I must go now my heart doesn’t belong on this earth anymore. I love you all and don’t look for me Hitler for I will be in your heart and that is all I can say. I hope you understand.

No I was not there. In the sound clip that was posted.

Pain

Pain, I feel pain. My first pain comes from my heart. My own dear Germans did not see the great benefit of what I am doing for them. I feel betrayed. My decision of what to do is wavering. To whom do I put my life in. I don't know which hands i am able. To trust. My X-officers used our own defense system against us. Unternehmen Wlküre was sopose to keep our secrets a secret. Instead it was used for a failed assassination attempt. All damage has gone to the other in the room or my right arm. I am angry and confused. Though I will never let this bring me down. For you many Germans I may still trust, don't fret for your Fuhrer is still here for you. Unlike some rulers I know I will not leave you behind just because things got more difficult and dangerous. I will always be here with you, for you, and among you.
Your brother

Hitler oh Hitler my dear I haven’t heard from you in days I do not know if you are ok! I can’t believe it I think I would drop dead if found out he was surely dead! Why are you all so happy about man’s death! That makes you just as bad as you THINK him to be. It utterly kills me inside and breaks my already fragile heart. America there is no way you can win the war The Third Reich is impossible to defeat with Japan armed and ready by his side, Hitler assured me this! I think you all take a moment of silence and think about what you ever said against the Reich because this will be your one and only voice and the world will sing in unison and be happy in a perfect peaceful world together! Are you excited! Welcome Germany the strongest, greatest, the only country on Earth!

Truly Yours

~Eva Braun

Response to FDR

My loyal friend FDR,

I have no doubt that you and the American people will help us achieve absolute victory. While you must admit that you were slow to respond to the threat of world domination, you and I have spent enough time together that I know your intentions. Freedom is the root of American power and is as important to you as it is to me. You are correct -- war is hell. However, the strong followers of a strong leader can persevere. We were able to push Hitler and his cronies back during the Battle of Britain with airplanes held together by wire and string. Clearly God was on our side. I appreciate your prayers and support. With you by our side, the Allies are unstoppable. While both Britons and Americans are sacrificing in the name of justice, we must never forget the ultimate sacrifice that has been paid by the Jews. I anxiously await the day of European liberation and am thankful that I have you beside me. Together we will achieve the ultimate victory and the end will truly be our finest hour.

Awaiting the end,

Winston Churchill

Response to Editorial #9

I take offense at the implication that the defeat of Hitler is entirely dependent upon an American offensive. How preposterous!! My policy is to wage war, by sea, land, and air, with all of the might and strength that God can give us -- to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is my policy! Might will win. What is my aim, you might ask? Victory! Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terror. Victory, however long or hard the war may be, for without victory, there is no survival. If we fail, the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age. Let us, therefore, brace ourselves to our duties and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour." In all honesty, in war you don't have to be nice, you only have to be right. Losing is not an option.

Rightfully indignant,

Winston Churchill

Hitler better be dead

If Hitler is not dead I'm going to be very mad. He has caused so many deaths and horrible things! We can't let him be alive so he won't have a chance to kill anyone else. The things that happened because of Hitler is horrible and very depressing.

I hope Hitler is dead! Not to be offensive, but he has tortured millions of innocent lives. Many family names have vanished. He has killed many people who could have changed the world. I feel horrible for those who died in the bombing, though. As I look out my attic window, I see the old tree, I think that if you multiplied every leaf by 75, that might equal roughly half of the lives he has changed [bad]. One of my many admirers disappeared from school, [before I went into hiding] in Mathematics. Mathematics is right after lunch. We have an hour to do whatever we prefer. I usually go home with Sanne. I saw him walking towards home as well. I have not seen him since. Rumors have been going round that he was taken to Bergen-Belsen.  I will pray till further notice on whether or not Hitler is dead.

Dear Ira:

What do you mean by, “After the explosion I heard footsteps, you know, after it all settles down there are two distinct footsteps. This might just be my crazy imagination.”

What are the two distinct footsteps?
Were you there when it happened?

-Anne Frank

Reichstag

After the explosion I heard footsteps, you know, after it all settles down there are two distinct footsteps. This might just be my crazy imagination. This is great news, though. If hitler is dead millions of jews and other races can be liberated. I am true joy, he was a terrible monster and he deserved to die. If he survived that we will not stop fighting, we will fight until he is six feet under. He has done many terrible things to human beings. To him beliefs separate us. The amount of segregation going on in Germany is just too much!! True heroes die in war, if Hitler is dead, technically he didn't die in war therefore he is not a hero and he should not be given the title of one. The things he have done are punishable by death. He has violated ones basic rights and ones freedom. Though all the world may not have freedom, all the world deserves it.

Response to Editorial #9

God help the Americans. They have entered into the biggest war in history. They have chosen to fight a two front war thanks to their brave leader Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It has never been done before, but I hope that their valiant and courageous leaders can help them on the road to victory. General MacARTHUR and General Eisenhower are good men. Also, with the news of the Reichstag blowing up, Soviet Russia's best chance is now to push back against the Germans. The Germans have been gaining ground in Mother Russia for weeks, but I hope that the upcoming winter will halt the German army. The Germans have underestimated the Soviet terrain. We have a vast country with many resources on the eastern side of the country that will fuel the Red Army which is fighting bravely on the west. I can feel the end of the war coming, and I know that Soviet Russia will play a large role in it.

YOU'RE WELCOME!

Is Hitler dead?

The news of the bombing at Valkyrie today was quite exciting. I would like to say that I believe that Hitler is dead, but such an abominable person will take more than one try to kill. Hitler is strong, and I think there is a large chance that Germany's leader is not dead. If this is the case I predict that he will not think it was an accident. He will turn on many, blaming both the guilty parties and innocent people for the bombing, and I am afraid that many will die. I wish that the revolutionaries had asked Britain for help with their plans. I am afraid that all contingencies were not taken into account, as is often the case with assassination attempts. It is obvious, however, that many Germans truly find contempt in the Fuhrer's teachings and with inside turncoats, the war may finally take a turn.

Awaiting good news,

Winston Churchill

HITLER IS DEAD!

I have been super busy lately.  I have traveled with the people fighting for us on long trips.  I just received word that Hitler has been killed, I am so happy!  The people that have been turned on by Hitler must have been super happy also!  I know what it feels like to be on the front line of war.  That is what I have been doing for the past days.  It is super scary, but it is also exciting.  There were some great people that died during war.  I have seen them die in front of my eyes.  I can say that if we did not have the great civilians that went into the military, we would have not been able to help the people or even stand up for America.  Our military is the best and all of the nurses that helped the military during this time!  I have seen pretty bad stuff and this is one of the hardest things I have seen, watching our own men die, even with the nurse’s help.

Response to Editorial #9

I don’t believe America will win a war on two fronts it is very hard to do that in general but against the Japanese and the Germans (who have already proved how powerful they are) it’s next to impossible especially since they still want to stay neutral but will fight if they have to.  I don’t think they are ready for this; this could be the fall of America considering the circumstances.  America does not really stand a chance against Japan and Germany, but who knows they could surprise us.  If America dies democracy will die with it, which would be terrible, even thought democracies can be weak at first they can grow into powerful, strong nations, the big dogs of the world.  Plus if the territory of America gets conquered, Germany and Japan will be unstoppable, with all the land they will get who will all of the lives of those Americans change.

NEWSBLAST - IS HITLER DEAD?!

Urgent- We have just received word that there was a massive explosion during the Nazi Conference at the Reichstag.  Hitler and his top advisors were at the meeting.  It appears as though there has been a successful assassination attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler.  This may be the end of the Third Reich!

Below is audio our operatives were able to capture

Farewell Macauther

General Westmoreland, General Groves, distinguished guests, and gentlemen of the Corps. As I was leaving the hotel this morning, a doorman asked me, "Where are you bound for, General?" and when I replied, "West Point," he remarked, "Beautiful place, have you ever been there before?" No human being could fail to be deeply moved by such a tribute as this, coming from a profession I have served so long and a people I have loved so well. It fills me with an emotion I cannot express. But this award is not intended primarily for a personality, but to symbolize a great moral code - the code of conduct and chivalry of those who guard this beloved land of culture and ancient descent. That is the meaning of this medallion. For all eyes and for all time, it is an expression of the ethics of the American soldier. That I should be integrated in this way with so noble an ideal arouses a sense of pride and yet of humility which will be with me always. "Duty," "Honor," "Country" - those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you want to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn. Unhappily, I possess neither that eloquence of diction, that poetry of imagination, nor that brilliance of metaphor to tell you all that they mean. The unbelievers will say they are but words, but a slogan, but a flamboyant phrase. Every pedant, every demagogue, every cynic, every hypocrite, every troublemaker, and, I am sorry to say, some others of an entirely different character, will try to downgrade them even to the extent of mockery and ridicule. But these are some of the things they do. They build your basic character. They mold you for your future roles as the custodians of the nation's defense. They make you strong enough to know when you are weak, and brave enough to face yourself when you are afraid. They teach you to be proud and unbending in honest failure, but humble and gentle in success; not to substitute words for action; not to seek the path of comfort, but to face the stress and spur of difficulty and challenge; to learn to stand up in the storm, but to have compassion on those who fall; to master yourself before you seek to master others; to have a heart that is clean, a goal that is high; to learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; to reach into the future, yet never neglect the past; to be serious, yet never take yourself too seriously; to be modest so that you will remember the simplicity of true greatness; the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength. They give you a temperate will, a quality of imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a freshness of the deep springs of life, a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, an appetite for adventure over love of ease. They create in your heart the sense of wonder, the unfailing hope of what next, and the joy and inspiration of life. They teach you in this way to be an officer and a gentleman. And what sort of soldiers are those you are to lead? Are they reliable? Are they brave? Are they capable of victory? Their story is known to all of you. It is the story of the American man at arms. My estimate of him was formed on the battlefields many, many years ago, and has never changed. I regarded him then, as I regard him now, as one of the world's noblest figures; not only as one of the finest military characters, but also as one of the most stainless. His name and fame are the birthright of every American citizen. In his youth and strength, his love and loyalty, he gave all that mortality can give. He needs no eulogy from me, or from any other man. He has written his own history and written it in red on his enemy's breast. But when I think of his patience under adversity, of his courage under fire, and of his modesty in victory, I am filled with an emotion of admiration I cannot put into words. He belongs to history as furnishing one of the greatest examples of successful patriotism. He belongs to posterity as the instructor of future generations in the principles of liberty and freedom. He belongs to the present, to us, by his virtues and by his achievements. In twenty campaigns, on a hundred battlefields, around a thousand campfires, I have witnessed that enduring fortitude, that patriotic self-abnegation, and that invincible determination which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people. From one end of the world to the other, he has drained deep the chalice of courage. As I listened to those songs of the glee club, in memory's eye I could see those staggering columns of the First World War, bending under soggy packs on many a weary march, from dripping dusk to drizzling dawn, slogging ankle deep through mire of shell-pocked roads; to form grimly for the attack, blue-lipped, covered with sludge and mud, chilled by the wind and rain, driving home to their objective, and for many, to the judgment seat of God. I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death. They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we would go on to victory. Always for them: Duty, Honor, Country. Always their blood, and sweat, and tears, as they saw the way and the light. And twenty years after, on the other side of the globe, against the filth of dirty foxholes, the stench of ghostly trenches, the slime of dripping dugouts, those boiling suns of the relentless heat, those torrential rains of devastating storms, the loneliness and utter desolation of jungle trails, the bitterness of long separation of those they loved and cherished, the deadly pestilence of tropic disease, the horror of stricken areas of war. Their resolute and determined defense, their swift and sure attack, their indomitable purpose, their complete and decisive victory - always victory, always through the bloody haze of their last reverberating shot, the vision of gaunt, ghastly men, reverently following your password of Duty, Honor, Country. The code which those words perpetuate embraces the highest moral laws and will stand the test of any ethics or philosophies ever promulgated for the uplift of mankind. Its requirements are for the things that are right, and its restraints are from the things that are wrong. The soldier, above all other men, is required to practice the greatest act of religious training - sacrifice. In battle and in the face of danger and death, he discloses those divine attributes which his Maker gave when he created man in his own image. No physical courage and no brute instinct can take the place of the Divine help which alone can sustain him. However horrible the incidents of war may be, the soldier who is called upon to offer and to give his life for his country, is the noblest development of mankind. You now face a new world, a world of change. The thrust into outer space of the satellite, spheres and missiles marked the beginning of another epoch in the long story of mankind - the chapter of the space age. In the five or more billions of years the scientists tell us it has taken to form the earth, in the three or more billion years of development of the human race, there has never been a greater, a more abrupt or staggering evolution. We deal now not with things of this world alone, but with the illimitable distances and as yet unfathomed mysteries of the universe. We are reaching out for a new and boundless frontier. We speak in strange terms: of harnessing the cosmic energy; of making winds and tides work for us; of creating unheard synthetic materials to supplement or even replace our old standard basics; of purifying sea water for our drink; of mining ocean floors for new fields of wealth and food; of disease preventatives to expand life into the hundred of years; of controlling the weather for a more equitable distribution of heat and cold, of rain and shine; of space ships to the moon; of the primary target in war, no longer limited to the armed forces of an enemy, but instead to include his civil populations; of ultimate conflict between a united human race and the sinister forces of some other planetary galaxy; of such dreams and fantasies as to make life the most exciting of all time. And through all this welter of change and development your mission remains fixed, determined, inviolable. It is to win our wars. Everything else in your professional career is but corollary to this vital dedication. All other public purpose, all other public projects, all other public needs, great or small, will find others for their accomplishments; but you are the ones who are trained to fight. Yours is the profession of arms, the will to win, the sure knowledge that in war there is no substitute for victory, that if you lose, the Nation will be destroyed, that the very obsession of your public service must be Duty, Honor, Country. Others will debate the controversial issues, national and international, which divide men's minds. But serene, calm, aloof, you stand as the Nation's war guardians, as its lifeguards from the raging tides of international conflict, as its gladiators in the arena of battle. For a century and a half you have defended, guarded and protected its hallowed traditions of liberty and freedom, of right and justice. Let civilian voices argue the merits or demerits of our processes of government. Whether our strength is being sapped by deficit financing indulged in too long, by federal paternalism grown too mighty, by power groups grown too arrogant, by politics grown too corrupt, by crime grown too rampant, by morals grown too low, by taxes grown too high, by extremists grown too violent; whether our personal liberties are as firm and complete as they should be. These great national problems are not for your professional participation or military solution. Your guidepost stands out like a tenfold beacon in the night: Duty, Honor, Country. You are the leaven which binds together the entire fabric of our national system of defense. From your ranks come the great captains who hold the Nation's destiny in their hands the moment the war tocsin sounds. The long gray line has never failed us. Were you to do so, a million ghosts in olive drab, in brown khaki, in blue and gray, would rise from their white crosses, thundering those magic words: Duty, Honor, Country. This does not mean that you are warmongers. On the contrary, the soldier above all other people prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. But always in our ears ring the ominous words of Plato, that wisest of all philosophers: "Only the dead have seen the end of war." The shadows are lengthening for me. The twilight is here. My days of old have vanished - tone and tints. They have gone glimmering through the dreams of things that were. Their memory is one of wondrous beauty, watered by tears and coaxed and caressed by the smiles of yesterday. I listen then, but with thirsty ear, for the witching melody of faint bugles blowing reveille, of far drums beating the long roll. In my dreams I hear again the crash of guns, the rattle of musketry, the strange, mournful mutter of the battlefield. But in the evening of my memory I come back to West Point. Always there echoes and re-echoes: Duty, Honor, Country. Today marks my final roll call with you. But I want you to know that when I cross the river, my last conscious thoughts will be of the Corps, and the Corps, and the Corps.

I bid you farewell."

We Americans might look like we are sleeping and waiting for this war to end in your eyes but to ours we are training to fight the greatest war of them all. We have highly sophisticated guns as you may see. We are training our troops to aim, target, and shoot you right back to the reality of how crazy this whole war is.  We are surveying the way this war is going so that we can go out to this war with a bang. “It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”

Life is a lively process of becoming.”  Maybe this whole war will turn around and end. It will turn around and run the other direction with its tail between its legs. All of these countries were created to have peace and work with each other. They don’t want to become this big clump and rule under Hitler. I think not. I speak for everyone. This war has gone by too long.

End Game is Coming - FDR to Editorial # 9

When I said that the American people would win through to absolute victory, that was not a hollow promise, but a fact.

Why?

Because America is a government not ruled by an alien power, but by ourselves.  The ultimate rulers of America are not senators or presidents, but the voters themselves.  They will not let ANY power in the world choke freedom.   Have you forgotten 1776, 1812, 1865, 1918?  These are all moments where liberty seemingly crushed like a biscuit crumb rose and triumphed completely.

War is hell - General William Sherman said that on his destructive drive to Atlanta during the Civil War. It has to be so terrible and awful that an enemy will lose all heart.

To all of Europe:  we know your deprivations. You are our heroes. Every night we go to bed praying for your safety, willing you the strength to kill our enemy, and to prevail. Our grateful country thanks you for your service and we are mobilizing every man woman and child to support you back home. American women are building bombers alongside their men, American children go around the neighborhood collecting tin cans to be used in the war effort. My own grandmother uses her ration coupons to eat meat only once a week. Spam is on every American's meal plan. We sacrifice for your sacrifice. Fight on for us.

Helene Delattre:   you live in the shadow of the enemy, and you are loyal to freedom and democracy. Do not worry; DeGaulle will return and sweep the vichy away like pig vomit. Stay in the shadows and know we are coming for you. Take out your hidden radios and listen for our messages to the Free French who heroically battle the Nazis in their own backyard. We are coming for you. "It wounds my heart with a monotonous langour..."

Long story long, Europe will be liberated and the Japanese will be weeded out from every island in the Pacific.

End game is coming...

Very sincerely and respectfully,

Franklin Delano Roosevelt
