Response to Editorial #7

Hitler and his collaborators bear full moral responsibility for the unspeakable crimes committed against the Jews of Europe. It is obvious that hatred of Jews was a defining characteristic of the Nazi Party from its birth. Anyone who has read Mein Kampf can see this. I must admit that I feel somewhat responsible for this tragedy. If Britain had not declared war on Germany, then Hitler would probably not have invaded France. Had he not, Mussolini would never have invaded France or Greece, or declared war on England. With no war in Western Europe, all of the Jews of Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, and Greece might have survived a German-Polish or Nazi-Soviet war, as the Jews of Spain, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland survived. But because Britain declared war on Germany, Hitler is holding all of the Jews of Western Europe, the Balkans, and Russia hostage. Since this tragedy appears unstoppable, it is my hope that it has reached its climax and that the sacrifices of hundreds of millions of people will not have been in vain.
