Editorial #9 - January 1942 – Can America Survive a War on Two Fronts?

Fellow Citizens,

A world war is upon us.  Our lives will be rent by noise and flame and our souls will shake with the violence of war!  We are marching headlong into a maelstrom of doom.  The Nazis are unstoppable in the East as they devour miles of Soviet soil each day.  The Japanese have delivered a heavy blow to the U.S. who seem to still be a sleeping giant.   They are training their soldiers with carved wooden rifles!  Do they plan on prodding the Germs to death?!  While Great Britain may have stopped the Nazi advance last year, they are hardly in any condition to begin pushing the Nazis back.  The only hope that democracy has is the United States of America.

They are fighting a war that no nation has ever won – a war on two fronts.   Along with this, the two enemies are total opposites yet equally terrifying. 

The Germans – Under the control of General Erwin Rommel hold everything on the west side of Jerusalem from nearly all of Europe to North Africa.  Rommel’s Afrika Korps are a force that cannot possibly be reckoned with.  Their equipment is immaculate!  Tiger Tanks and MG-42s are two weapons that the U.S. cannot match in their arsenal.  The Daily Mirror’s prediction:  America does not hold a candle to the military forces of Germany.

The Japanese – Armed with some of the greatest planes ever manufactured and a fighting spirit unmatched in all of history.  They are entrenched deep in the islands of the Pacific.  For America to beat the Japanese back, they will have to push Japan’s forces from each of these tiny islands throughout the Pacific.  How will they do amphibious landings and island invasions that have never been attempted?  How will they counter an enemy deeply dug into each island?

Fellow citizens, many questions remain unanswered.  America is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Dear Stalin,
I do agree with you the people deserved to die. The week shall be executed and the strong shall live. It's a dog eat dog world Commissar Stalin now you remember that. But do not cower away like the Americans you might just find yourself one of the week. And your people will believe that to and they will laugh at you and say that it was a mistake to trust you to help and fix their country. They might even say they wished they hah Adolf Hitler as their leader because they see how he has helped us and made us truly perfect by exterminating the problems our country Had.

America is not asleep they are afraid you can see it in Franklin D. Roosevelt's eyes... FEAR. He cowers away at this first sight of death. He even lied about fighting in the war. He is a baby that cries to mommy when things don't go the way he says or wants them to. Doesn't he realize that war was the reason the stock market had its boom, and now with no war America has its depression. Like i said last week we new Hitler would help our country and now we are out of our depression.

Wow! So true, Hitler is not the only bad guy here. You have said what I have been trying to say all along. Hitler and Company are villains. But let us not forget Mussilini who had an assassin murder a man who opposed facism. I believe there will be an end to this fighting one day perhaps tommorow perhaps years in the future.  We must continue on until then fighting for things we have nothing to do with. And how does Tōjō make people murder themselves. I mean, I wouldn't. So why would they. Something huge will end this war I can feel it in my bones. I wish this silliness would be over and I could go back home to the reservation and see the chief. He was torn when i told him I was going to war. He has no idea what Hitler, Stalin, and Tōjō are doing, we have to many problems at home.

I must continue to fight this endless war.

     In my last response to war, I kept mentioning Hitler. Well now its more of everyone! Ya Adolf Hitler is bad and all but what about Josef Stalin? Hes bad too, right? You will hear about him shooting and killing his army because they didn't listen to him. Obey or die. Is that right? How is that even a humane thing to do? It's not! there is also Hideki Tojo. Who trains his army to be samurai or something of that nature. His policy is pretty much if you make a mistake, you are not worthy. He then makes that person who made the mistake, kill them self in front of everyone. So all and all we keep getting the question is there ever going to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel?

Ohhh so the truth makes you laugh, how ironic. Fascism does not frighten us, it only gets in our way. Where the axis powers rule? ohh yeah so we can all be sent to work camps then turned into a pile of ash. So that if we don't agree we will be executed. Here in America we have a concept we like to call FREEDOM!!!!!!  I don't see how any country could be better than  America. Certainly not any of the ones in the axis powers. You are starting to see that your plan will go wrong, it's about time! You are afraid of other powers, you are to cowardly to speak. You never want to speak again because you are afraid and you know you will lose in the end. Back to the beginning of your "post" you asked what was Anne frank.  Anne frank is a brave little girl who is not afraid of sticking to her beliefs. She I braver than you and hitler combined. She was sent to work camps, Auswitch I believe. Such a young brave soul. Some advice: grow some hair baldy locks!

progress update

     Today everything went smoothly on the creation of the bomb. I think we even have an idea on who we can trust to hand the bomb over to. I think we also know what our first target will be. So mobilize your units, get your weapons, get an army, and prepare for the BOOM!!!! BWAHAHAHA!!!

The people that I executed deserved to die. They were traitors to the great Lenin and his beliefs. They tried to bring monarchies, democracies, and aristocracies, when communism is the best and only way. Cowards are what I call the soldiers that my officers shot. They run from the Nazi's, but in the end I am actually saving them. What do you think Russia would look like if I let my soldiers act like a bunch of cowardly bastards? The only people that will be alive in Russia at the end of this war are the true comrades of the great Lenin and myself. Also, you cannot say that your leader is fighting alongside your men either. It would be the most ignorant thing to do. If I died during an artillery barrage because I want to support The Great Red Army, The Soviet Union would have no where to turn to, and the great ideologies and doctrines of Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin would be lost. I rest my case at that, but I do want to know why Adolf hasn't executed you yet if you do not believe the same as he does.

What is going on?  Many Jews are dying in camps that Hitler created and nobody knew about it until now.  Nobody is doing anything about stopping Hitler.  I don't know about you, but I believe that Hitler is really the bad guy.  We need to put a stop to this nonsense.  America needs to get involved NOW.  I agree with the Daily Mirror that America is a sleeping giant.  Why did America get involved in World War One at the last minute. Why are you waiting until the last minute to get involved in the war.  I told you before that you should have gotten involved earlier in the war,  but it didn't happen.  If America had gotten involved in the war earlier all these Jews probably wouldn't have died.  Hitler has been growing stronger and you have been getting warnings about it, but it just seems like you don't want to listen to those warnings.

What is happening to the Jews in Hitler's camps

Think about the Jews in the camps that Hitler created.  It must be very hard to survive these camps.  If only there was someone who could free these Jews from these camps.  Do people get gassed in the showers?  Will you be mistaken by a Jew?  If I were you I would be in hiding until all this is over.  All you see is Jews getting in trains and then you never see these people again.  What is Hitler doing to all these Jews.  What did these people ever do to you.  I am not a follower of Hitler, but this is not right.  You need to put a stop to this.  People tell me that it is always snowing at these camps, but why would it be snowing on a hot summer day.  I hope these rumors are fake or even made up.  If these rumors are true somebody needs to put an end to this.

You're talking? This coming from the one who has systematically executed hundreds of thousands of people from your own country. I do not agree with the murder of Jews, however you have not a leg to stand on. You shoot untrained boys in the backs when they run from the fearsome legions of German forces. Where is the honor in that? I tell you, of course your army is not motivated when your teenage soldiers have seen their friends shot dead by his commander for being scared. YOU are the reason Hitler invaded the Soviet Union, and your men will turn on you because of your cruel treatment of your soldiers. And while you hide hundreds of miles away from the battlefield, your men secretly harbor a hatred of the DICTATOR who placed them there malnourished and undersupplied. If there is one thing I have learned in combat, it is that if a situation is so hopeless that their leader won't even come close to the battlefield, they believe it is hopeless and put no heart or vigor into the fight for their freedom.

Hello Eleanor. Stop calling Hitler out. He is just trying to do what's best for their society. Jews have not done wrong things like criminals. Yet to Hitler they are infesting his close community. Wouldn't you want to destroy something or someones that are invading your area? For example you probably wouldn't like it if aliens landed on Earth and started to intertwine their race with the perfectly good race(s) you started out with. By the way when you said "Jews are people just like you and me" you are correct, they are humans, except for the fact that Jews are not the First Lady of the United States. Or Jews are not extraordinarily powered people in their countries. So Jews are not just like you or me. Hitler is just trying to keep Germany "clean" as he might say. Try walking in his shoes trying to please so many people and even have struggles with pleasing yourself, take a walk in his shoes.

    When I heard about the mass graves and executions, I thought it was just a crazy twisted up nightmare. It wasn't. This is all real! It is just a totally inhumane thing to do! Its just totally an evil thing to do. Why the Jews? Why anybody?

Hitler you better stop this right now!!! Jews are people just like you and me! They just have different beliefs then us and that is totally fine! They may not be the same has us but that doesn't mean you have to kill them! Why don't you take a walk in their shoes for once! See how harsh you are being on them! Okay, so some of them have done bad things, but that is no excuse to get rid of all of them! I mean seriously let's say one German did something bad. Are you going to kill all Germans?? I didn't think so. "You must do things you think you cannot." You see what I'm saying?

I cannot believe the monstrosities that Nazi Germany has put Jews, Catholics, and even captured Soviet soldiers through. Adolf Hitler is truly insane. Not only is he starving and beating his own citizens, he is killing his own people in very gruesome ways that only a madman could do. I know that the German people are most at fault here, but if the cowardly Americans had attacked Germany months ago possibly over a million innocent lives could have been saved. Germany has killed over four million since the start of the war, and i'm sure that many have not been discovered yet.But once again, the United States of America wants to be the big dog, so once Russia and England are at their breaking point Franklin Delano Roosevelt will call himself a big man and declare war. I do hope for the end of this war to come soon. My army is tired, malnourished, and has no supplies.

I am a model and don't ever really involve myself in politics, but I have to know some things like how every one is upset and how everyone is scared of Hitler, but why so afraid of him he is just a man leading his country to greatness. He is my best friend and I love and I know he is human and so should you so he shall make mistakes, but he makes very few when it comes to politics.

When peace came, a gate begged

Poems remind me of life in peace and that's all Hitler wants: Peace. You are the ones who started the war so stop blaming Hitler.

Listen to me!! please

You lie Hitler; you have fooled your own self!! He is lying to you all!!! Can’t you see? If you want a bigger, stronger country, try not exterminating the people. If some other leader said that people with blonde hair and blue eyes was infecting the race, would you believe them? Would you kill those with blue eyes and blonde hair? Put them in camps? Make them work till they can’t work anymore? Send then into the "showers" with gas and not water? Starve them? Beat them? Can’t you see? You are living in a world of racism and hatred!!! Do something!!! Those who let others sin are sinning themselves. Pull the beam out of your own eye before you pull the splinter out of your neighbor’s eye. I know my words won’t change your mind but please, please, please think about what you are doing!!! We all have our flaws!! Even I!! You do too!!

 

Hitler, you have flaws, just as we do, I suggest you stop being a selfish idiot and wake up and smell the rotting flesh, and see what you have done.

Don't you all see its just nothing why is the Daily Mirror getting so scared. The Jews are inferior race! The beautiful German race will thrive and the world will be perfect! No one ugly and no other false religion. If you think Hitler is ugly well your are looking only at one little little side of him. I see all of it and he is kind and charismatic and I love him and you are all just worried about your lives well don't because he protects the humans by getting rid of the sub humans. This is just a little poem that made me think of Hitler a leader a fighter for his country strong and brave:

My people,
     I beg of you to see what I am doing and the reason of it sane. My future plans for my country has no involvement of the Jews, of whom have weekend my country for the final time. I plan on showing the pride and prosperity of my brothers and sisters to the rest of the world l. If I just banish the pioson (aka the Jews) from my land, I will just be leaving a task to be done for the future. I want to get rid of them now so that I won't have to do so in the future. Now why such a harsh way of doing so? This is because of such the retched things their race has done to my country. They have given my country criminals and villains who strike fear into my dear people. They showed no mercy, nor shall I. My country is going to be the dominate race, because that is always was our fate in the first place.

My days have been numbered, my family has gone into hiding with other families, and I try to happy myself by writing in by journal. Thinking about my death brings me pain and I can not think about it without my head throbbing and my knees going weak. Margo says I am just over reacting and the war will be over in due time, but I am old enough to think for myself and I think she is to freighted to think about what could happen to us as well. Because of Hitler I have had to give up my social life. I no longer have friend that I can talk to, I now linger have my cat, my life has been trampled and ruined. I am thankful for what I have though; I am not in concentration camps. My life could be worse. The other night they broke into the office downstairs. They robbed us. They are the Nazis. my is soon, I feel it in the long winter nights, in the words Mother and Father speak, I see it in the old droopy tree outside the attic, in my Margo's eyes. I take each day on as though it is my last. I do not know how long I have.

 

The other day I witnessed a terrific air battle between German and British planes. A couple allies had to jump from burning planes. The milk man saw four Canadians siting by the road.  One of them asked for a lighter for his cigarette, he said that there were originally six men in his crew. The pilot had burned and the fifth man had hidden in fear. The German came a fetched the perfectly fit men. I wonder how they could keep their head straight after that terrifying parachute trip.
